Anita and the Yanks
broke into the Celtic rock music scene in 2008 and have built an impressive fan base in and around the Los Angeles area. Lead singer, guitarist Anita Mansfield and mandolin player Bryan Dobbs started out as a duo and they picked up Ryan Dean (drums) Damon Stout (bass) and Pat D'Arcy (uilleann pipes) along the way, featuring special guests Rachel Grace and Chris Loken on violin.

Anita and the Yanks just returned from their second successful tour of Ireland with the Young Dubliners. Their new album Face the Wind which blends haunting memorable melodies with ancient ambient strings over modern rock grooves, with stand out tracks like "Memories," "Black is the Colour" and "Face the Wind" has been well received by audiences here and abroad.

"They rock traditionals such as 'Black is the Color of My True Love’s Hair,' but Mansfield writes most of their midtempo pop. The arrangements and instrumentation (mandolin, violin, percussion, harmonies) give the material a Celtic feel, while her bright soprano and vocal fillips sometimes recall Cranberries front woman Dolores O’Riordan" -Bliss, Pasadena Weekly

"I was just transfixed by the energy of the band." -Terry Miller, Pasadena Independent

Anita and the Yanks is a must see and an essential addition to any music lover's library.

Anita and the Yanks: A Novel Experience in Irish Rock
-Pasadena Independent

"With their unique blend of contemporary and traditional Irish influenced melodies, the music transcends those boundaries and reaches even the casual observer. The striking, red-headed Mansfield immediately grabs you with her gentle confidence and formidable playing – albeit with beautiful Martin six string. Mansfield’s music effortlessly melted into the collective consciousness of the crowd at Novel Café and transported at least one listener to another, perhaps simpler time."
